About Us

After 30 years of experience in the appliance/electronics business, Lester Hamai decided to venture out on his own. Lester and Clara Hamai founded Hamai Appliance in September of 1969. Their son Clyde, joined them later that year, and in 1974, their oldest son, Glenn, made the family's involvement in the business complete. In March of 1977, they relocated to a larger building in Kahului and have been there since. Clyde, joined by his two sons and nephew (Bryant, Garret and Kelii), now run the business, taking it into the 21st century.

Today, the company follows the same tradition that Lester Hamai started his business with SERVICE to customers, the public and employees alike. They help local people because they are local people. They know first-hand the problems, dreams and needs of Maui's population.

Committed Service

Commitment to customer service says it all. Our friendly sales staff, knowledgeable technicians, and detail oriented delivery team are factors that the other big box companies just can't compete with. Once you purchase a new appliance from Hamai Appliance, we continue with our policy of service. We take complete charge of delivery and can even arrange installation of the item. If you choose, we will even remove and dispose of your old appliance.

Of course, we hope that everything goes well after your purchase, but if something does go wrong our factory trained service department swings into action and gets your appliance back in working order immediately. (Note: Our service department is located on the island of Maui. For outer-island customers we can help refer you to servicers in your area). When you purchase a major appliance from Hamai, we record your purchase in our computer system. Should there be a need for repair service, we will know if it's in or out of warranty and inform you.
